Whether you’re a fan of traveling or not, you have to admit that this is one of the most exciting ways to spend your time. This is why people from all over the world are constantly making travel plans and trying to find the best places to visit, and if this is something you’re doing right now as well, make sure you take Massachusetts into account as well.
This area is visually appealing, welcoming, and full of wonderful sights you might be interested in, and it’s no surprise that it attracts tons of visitors every single year. However, with so many different options to look into you may feel a bit overwhelmed and that could prevent you from making the most of your time in Massachusetts.
So, if you wish to have a great time and visit all the places that deserve your attention, here is an easy itinerary that should help you do all that more easily.
Reaching Massachusetts could turn into the hardest part of your trip, but it could also be the easiest thing you’ll ever do, and it all depends on where you’re located right now and how organized you are.
What’s great is that there are lots of ways to reach this area and you can choose whichever option you prefer – from cars, buses, and trains to planes and even boats – so just think about your preferences and find an idea that suits you the most.
For instance, when I visited Massachusetts in 2019, I took a plane there because this is the easiest and quickest way to reach this amazing state.
After reaching Logan, I took a train to the city and ended up reaching my accommodation sooner than I thought I would. That’s why this is the combination I always recommend, though you can also look into buses and find a line that works for you.
Alternatively, if you’re a good driver and feel confident when it comes to your driving skills, you can always hit the road and reach Massachusetts by car, which will give you a ton of freedom and help you visit lots of local sites and places you need to see.
Speaking of which, this is another aspect of the process of planning your visit to Massachusetts. With places like Boston, Martha’s Vineyard, and Cape Cod, this area is full of spots you simply have to see during your visit.
Again, the problem isn’t deciding where to go, but it all comes down to how much time you have and how eager you are to spend your whole day sightseeing.
This is why making a list of the most popular sights in Massachusetts and coming up with a detailed day-to-day plan could help you maximize your time and visit as many different places as you can.
Doing these things won’t be easy, especially if you’ve never been to a place that’s as big and historically important as this, but you can manage it all if you’re organized.
After arriving in Massachusetts and reaching your accommodation in, for instance, Boston, you’ll probably need some time to relax and regain your strength.
This depends on how long you’ve been traveling and which transportation option you’ve opted for, but this is precisely why you might insist on one of those relaxing luxury apartments that are available in Boston, offering you all the amenities you need and helping you get ready for your adventure in Massachusetts.
On your first day, start slow and explore the neighborhood. Take a walk for a few blocks, find a place where you can eat, and check out whether there’s a park near your place. Keep in mind that Boston is surprisingly walkable for a city that huge, and this is why I used to walk as often as I could during my stay there. I’m a fan of walking in urban areas, but even if you’re not, you’ll be so amazed by the beauty of the streets that you’ll have no problems wandering around for hours.
After getting a good night’s sleep, you can start your adventure. Don’t waste time having breakfast at your accommodation, and get some food outside instead.
Whether you’re a fan of bagels, croissants, or hot dogs, you’ll find them all in Boston, and you’ll be able to eat while you’re walking. And if you want to make the most of your first visit here, check out Freedom Trail, a two-mile path that connects some of the most iconic historical places in the city and helps you take them all in at your own pace.
The best thing about it is that you can go wherever you want and follow the brick path for hours – which is precisely what I did – so take your time, have a few stops along the way, and enjoy your walk.
Alternatively, you can visit some of the best museums in Boston, including the Boston Children’s Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Institute of Contemporary Art.
This is the perfect time to visit Martha’s Vineyard and Cape Cod. Some people might feel that this is too much for them and spend a whole day at each of these destinations, but I visited them both at once. Also, plan this ahead in order to save and enjoy your travel on a budget.
This requires some planning ahead and you need to get up really early, but if you take a bus or ferry to Martha’s Vineyard and spend the whole morning there, you’ll be able to catch another ferry and reach Cape Cod right before your lunch.
Yes, it might sound like a lot of work and you’ll surely lose tons of energy, but the places you’ll see and the experienced you’ll have are something you’ll remember forever!
Whether you’re a fan of history or you’re interested in modern architecture, you’ll have a blast in Massachusetts, especially if you spend a whole day visiting places like Fenway Park, the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, or Harvard Square.
All these things are easy to reach by car, Uber, or public transportation, so try to see as many things as you can. But, if you don’t manage to do that, don’t worry – you just need to come back to Boston and Massachusetts once again!
