Snorkel gear set which includes mask, snorkel, fins and gear bag

Snorkeling is just as popular as ever, and with each passing year, we get newer and better equipment. Whenever you need a good snorkeling set, you ought to pay attention to how good each individual element is. We’re proud to say that Seavenger Voyager is one of the new snorkeling sets that stand out quite a bit, and for good reasons.

Who Made the Seavenger Voyager?

Based in Ontario, Canada, Seavenger has become a major player in wetsuit, snorkeling, and other watersport gear manufacturers. Their products have consistently appeared on lists of top-rated snorkeling and wetsuit products. The company policy has been to enhance people’s experience by the sea as much as possible, with the focus on adventure and camaraderie. It’s no wonder that they chose a company motto such as “Together, we venture”.

Seavenger Voyager Snorkel Set Analysis & Test Results

One of the key elements of the Seavenger Voyager set is that it costs less, but offers more. Most major manufacturers of watersport gear sell products that cost double what the Voyager does. The price itself isn’t the problem, though. It’s the fact that the Voyager matches competitors’ snorkeling sets when it comes to durability, performance, and design.

Let’s dive into (pun somewhat intended) the Voyager snorkeling set and see what it is that made it so popular.

The Mask

Seavenger Voyager Snorkeling Mask

Every snorkeling set worth its salt must have a mask that’s tough, but smooth. In terms of “tough”, the mask is made of shatterproof tempered glass. More importantly, it’s a single piece lens, so it offers a wider field of vision than most other masks on the market.

The skirt of Voyager’s mask is made of soft silicone. It fits well on every face, no matter if it’s the face of a child or an adult. You won’t worry about damage to your skin. More importantly, however, you won’t have to worry about leakage. In addition, you have the adjustable flexible straps to easily affix the mask to your face.

The Snorkel

Now, this is where we sigh in amazement. Everything about Seavenger Voyager’s snorkel screams “excellent performance” and not without reason.

First, there’s the mouthpiece. Much like the skirt, this section is made of silicone that’s flexible, soft and hypoallergenic. But it also offers a pair of bitewings. You don’t have to bite down on it and worry that it will get loose. The decent grip it provides allows your jaw to rest, so you can say goodbye to jaw fatigue.

Next, there’s the splash guard. Voyager’s snorkel offers a dry top baffle system and what is called a ball float valve with the aforementioned splash guard. If you decide to dive in, the guard seals off the tube and prevents the water from getting in.

Should the water get in anyway, you won’t have to worry, because the final feature is just as great as the previous ones. To remove excess water from the tube, all you need to do is exhale with a bit of force. Once you do, you’ll open a little diaphragm valve which sits at the bottom purge. The very next inhale you do will close this valve and you can safely continue diving.

The Fins

Seavenger Voyager Snorkeling Fins

One look at the fins and you almost fall in love. They look very elegant, with a wide selection of colors, but don’t let the elegance fool you. We know how powerful they can get.

The Seavenger Voyager fins are open-heeled and soft-vented. This allows you to use them with any watersport footwear. Just fiddle with the backstrap a bit and you can adjust them to whatever your foot size may be.

But it’s the “soft-vented” part that interested us, and that you should also pay attention to. Namely, unlike many other fins on the market, the Voyager’s fins have a design that allows you to pivot and move far more quickly in water. Almost instantaneously, in fact. Not to mention that you’ll manage to propel yourself at a high velocity with them.

The Gear Bag

Seavenger Voyager Snorkeling Gear Bag

The gear bag of the Seavenger Voyager set isn’t like other bags in one major regard. Namely, it’s not made to allow in-bag rinsing. The material is somewhat more “traditional,” though still waterproof.

When you buy the Voyager snorkeling set, you actually get two bags. One is a regular gear bag, but the other is a matching and very useful shoulder bag. They are very durable and you’ll manage to carry your snorkeling set without worrying about the damage of any kind.

Pros of the Seavenger Voyager Snorkeling Set

1. Durability

Whether it’s the mask, the snorkel or the bag, the Voyager sure does offer some sturdy snorkeling gear. You’ll be able to look through water without worrying about a crack in the tempered glass visor. In addition, the tube you’ll use for breathing is just as tough, but still light enough to use.

2. Perfect for Beginners and Children

Considering its price and different sizes (S, M, and L), this is THE gear to get for your kids. They’ll learn how to snorkel without worrying that the set itself will suffer damage. Not to mention that they won’t suffer jaw fatigue from the snorkel, which could make them outright hate snorkeling if they did.

But it’s not just children that benefit from the Seavenger Voyager. Namely, even adults who’ve never snorkeled before will love this product. The fins will make them feel fast and graceful while swimming and the snorkel will provide that safety they need to have as beginners.

3. The Price is Right

We’ve tried many cheap watersport products out there. Needless to say, the results weren’t always the best. But sometimes a product appears on the market that seems like it’s almost too good for the offered price, and the Voyager fits that category perfectly.

Of course, if you have the money, you can look at other snorkeling sets. But for those of you (or rather, those of us) who are on the budget, it’s Voyager all the way.

Potential Flaws of the Seavenger Voyager

Of course, not everyone would be satisfied with this snorkeling set. For example, during the test snorkeling, our fins cracked. And indeed, the mask and the snorkel are more durable than the fins themselves. Not to mention that it’s hard to repair them if they break. If you’re afraid of a cracked fin, you might want to avoid this product. However, you can contact the manufacturer’s support for assistance with such issues.

Then there’s the mask. Ours fogged while we were using it for the purposes of this text. Not having a clear field of vision is very dangerous when you snorkel, so this is definitely a noteworthy setback.

Finally, there’s the adjustment issue. While the mask and the fins do have straps, they offer a somewhat limited range of options.

Final Verdict

Seavenger Voyager Snorkeling Set

Even if you take the flaws into account, the Seavenger Voyager snorkeling set can give you hours of fun at the open sea. With a low price and sturdy, yet soft equipment, you’ll likely benefit from having this set in your beach bag next time you decide to go on a maritime adventure.
